Type: Learning Experience Development
Role: Learning Designer & Developer
Tools Used: Rise 360, Gamification, Interactive Assessments

Overview

This project was designed to demonstrate the use of spaced learning in eLearning, built in Rise 360. The goal was to leverage a mobile-first experience that presented learners with small, digestible chunks of content while encouraging active recall to strengthen retention.

By integrating responsive design with interactive questioning, the course guided learners through spaced practice techniques that supported long-term knowledge transfer.

Objectives

  • Apply spaced learning principles to an eLearning course.
  • Deliver content in bite-sized, mobile-friendly formats.
  • Provide learners with multiple opportunities to recall and apply knowledge.
  • Use varied assessment formats to promote deeper engagement.
  • Add elements of gamification to encourage exploration and motivation.

Key Features

  • ✅ Responsive design in Rise 360, optimised for mobile learning
  • ✅ Bite-sized content delivery to reduce cognitive load
  • ✅ Interactive assessments (true/false, fill in the blank, open-ended)
  • ✅ Gamified progression, with learners unlocking new levels as they go
  • ✅ Focus on active recall to build stronger memory retention

Reflection

This project highlighted how instructional strategies like spaced practice can be effectively translated into digital learning design. By combining interactive questioning, gamification, and responsive design, the course created a playful yet scientifically grounded experience that enhanced learner retention.

“Spaced learning works best when learners are not just reviewing, but actively recalling and applying knowledge in different ways.”
