Separation II

Type: eLearning Development
Role: Learning Designer & Developer
Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360
Overview
This project demonstrates how spaced repetition can be applied within eLearning to improve long-term knowledge retention while avoiding cognitive overload. Designed in Articulate Storyline 360, the course delivers content in controlled intervals, allowing learners to revisit information at the right time to strengthen memory.
The approach is particularly effective for in-house training programmes, where content needs to be delivered in small, digestible chunks without overwhelming employees.
Objectives
- Showcase how spaced repetition can enhance retention and reduce overload.
- Deliver content in microlearning format, broken into manageable intervals.
- Adjust timing and flow of content delivery depending on learner needs and complexity.
- Support employees in learning new skills progressively rather than all at once.
- Encourage curiosity and anticipation by ‘dripping’ content over time.
Key Features
- ✅ Spaced repetition design to optimise retention
- ✅ Microlearning approach for digestible learning experiences
- ✅ Adjustable intervals depending on complexity and audience needs
- ✅ Content drip-feed to manage pacing and maintain curiosity
- ✅ Ideal for skill-based training within organisations
Reflection
This project reinforced the importance of timing and pacing in learning design. By integrating spaced repetition with microlearning, it’s possible to create training that not only prevents overload but also helps learners retain and apply knowledge long-term.
“Spaced repetition works because it aligns with how the brain learns — gradually, over time, and through recall.”
